Amman Imman: Water is Life Seminar

THANK YOU!!
Thank you all for coming out to hear our special seminar speaker by Debra Kahn on Amman Imman: Water is Life, a charity that constructs deep wells to provide clean water for underserved people living in the impoverished Azawak region of Niger, Africa.

It was a successful end of the semester event attended by dozens of students and faculty.  I think we all went away a little more inspired and knowledgeable about the limited water resources in Africa.  At the end of Debra's talk, AWRA presented her a check from our fundraisers in support of her charity.

After the seminar, some of us joined Debora that evening for dinner at Gillies.  Gillies sponsored a charity night where part of the profits went toward Amman Imman that evening.

The next day some AWRA members met up with Debora for lunch.
Overall it was great seminar and a pleasure to meet such an amazing woman and support such a wonderful charity.

Ground water resources in Africa - related to Amman Imman lecture

For those that attended the Amman Imman event on Wednesday evening, you might appreciate a story released today from BBC News.  It discusses the aquifers that Debbie discussed and addresses the recharge/sustainability issue.
